We spent three full months at Gulf Shores RV Resort, and it felt more like a little community than a campground.
Tucked just off Highway 59 on County Road 6, the resort is close enough to everything you need but far enough away to feel calm and peaceful. You wouldn’t even know how close you are to town once you pull in; it’s quiet, spacious, and beautifully maintained.
We chose this spot because we wanted to be near the Gulf Coast without feeling stuck in the chaos of tourist traffic.
And from the moment we arrived, we knew we had made the right call. Whether we were grilling outside, relaxing by the fire pit, or taking a dip in the heated pool, it was easy to settle into a slower pace of life here.

One of the biggest perks of this resort is its location. It’s only about 8 minutes from Target and Publix (which we visited more times than we can count), and just 3 minutes down the road from
The Factory, a giant indoor trampoline and adventure park, was a hit with our son. In about 20 minutes, we could be walking the white-sand beaches of Gulf Shores, and in 30 minutes, we could be at the beaches in Orange Beach. Foley’s outlet mall was only 25 minutes away, OWA amusement park was about 18, and The Wharf (another local favorite) was just 17.
It’s hard to beat a location that lets you enjoy everything the area has to offer while still coming “home” to peace and quiet.
Campsite Features & Setup
Our site was one of the full-hookup back-in sites, and it checked all the boxes. We had a sturdy picnic table, a charcoal grill, and a fire pit, which we used often during cooler evenings.
The spacing between sites gave us enough breathing room to really feel like we had our own little space, not just a parking spot.
The resort offers both standard and lakefront sites, and while we didn’t have a waterfront view, we were still just a short stroll away from the ponds. One of the small but thoughtful conveniences we appreciated was the valet trash service.
It might sound minor, but when you’re staying somewhere for a few months, not having to haul trash to a dumpster every day makes a difference, especially during rainy weather or when the schedule gets busy.

There are multiple catch-and-release fishing ponds on the property, and while we’re not hardcore anglers, it was a peaceful way to unwind or just watch the sunset. The tire swing near the pond was a surprise hit with our son; it added a fun, old-school charm to the place.

Exploring the Area: What’s Nearby
One of our favorite parts about staying at Gulf Shores RV Resort was how close we were to so many fun, family-friendly places, without having to deal with constant traffic or noise.
We took full advantage of the location, making regular runs to Target and Publix just 8 minutes away. When we needed a break or something active for our son, The Factory, a massive indoor trampoline park and adventure zone, was only 3 minutes away and always a hit.
Gulf Shores Beach was our go-to for coastal days, and it only took about 20 minutes to get there. If we wanted a change of scenery, Orange Beach was about 30 minutes away.
For shopping, the Foley outlets were just 25 minutes out, and we also made trips to OWA, a combo theme park and entertainment district about 18 minutes away.
One evening, we visited The Wharf, just 17 minutes from the resort, where we grabbed dinner and watched the boats roll in. There’s really no shortage of things to do in every direction, and being able to return each night to a quiet, cozy RV site made the experience even better.
